Yellow Land

It's very dry here now, I can't remember when it last rained. This is not unusual, on the average it rains one day each month in June, July and August, but I don't remember any rain this summer.

The average is two days for September and October, so hopefully, some rain will come soon.

I'm sure those few days help vegetation and animals a lot.

And when it doesn't rain as expected, both suffer.

While waiting for the rain, I will see how well Mark fixed the water leak from my outdoor pump, maybe it can be unfixed a little so some water drips out.

Desert land has some sort of earth magic, keeping life working even in the toughest times... And when it rains it is true manna! YAM xx

  3. will try sending some of our rain your way, 5 weeks ago the drought broke and now we are flooding and its pouring inches every day. we had 4 inches yesterday and all in one hour. the weather is swinging wildly every where all over the word and changing from the old to a new normal I think.
your yellow land is gorgeous. hope you get the manna you need.

  4. We're in a summer of drenching rains and a lot of green! The desert seems so ready to recover when it does get rain.

  6. What an amazing photo!!! The color is really gorgeous, and one would never think how bad the conditions are. But sometimes dying things are the most beautiful, like trees in the fall. This post is a golden gem.

  7. It's tough when the rain doesn't come as expected, especially with the impact on vegetation and wildlife. Hopefully, September and October bring some relief. In the meantime, checking on the water leak fix sounds like a good plan. Sometimes a small adjustment can make a big difference.

I appreciate your visit and comments.

  11. It does look kind of dry. But the colors are so beautiful. And the sky too!
I hope you get some rain - moderately of course.
I am just coming back here - remind me who Mark is.

    1. Mark is a man, now a good friend, who helps me with my outside chores. He also painted my shed and now that the weather is cooling, we will go through the stuff in the shed and clear it out. We are both looking forward to doing that, because there are treasures to be found.

  12. Your photos and this one today show the beauty of your canyon living. I've been putting out a large low container of water on the ground for little critters and one day a skunk was drinking and greeted me.

  13. We had a leak in our pipe next to the house and apparently gopher snakes were slithering by to drink from it. I saw one big one and one baby. I felt bad for them after my husband fixed the leak, but I didn't want to attract rattlesnakes with the water. Everyone is thirsty this year.
